Founding Partner

Steve Taylor practices primarily in the areas of workers’ compensation and personal injury law. He is licensed to practice in the State of Missouri, United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.

A proud graduate of Sikeston High School, he earned his bachelor’s degree from Southeast Missouri State University and his law degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Mr. Taylor served in the United States Army from 1970 to 1981, including active duty from 1972 to 1973, where he began his legal career. He retired at the rank of Captain.

Since 1973, Mr. Taylor has practiced law in the Sikeston area, gaining extensive jury and non-jury trial experience. He has served in a multitude of leadership positions in the Missouri legal community, including:

  • Special Assistant Attorney General, State of Missouri
  • Worker’s Compensation Committee Member, The Missouri Bar
  • Disciplinary Hearing Officer, The Missouri Bar
  • Board of Governors, Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys

He is a member of several professional organizations, including:

  • American Association for Justice®
  • The National Trial Lawyers
  • The Missouri Bar
  • Scott County Bar Association

Mr. Taylor has also served as a lecturer at continuing legal education programs for the Missouri Bar Association on matters involving workers’ compensation law.

Beyond his career as an attorney, Mr. Taylor has been deeply involved in the community, serving in leadership roles such as:

  • President, Sikeston Chamber of Commerce, Sikeston Jaycees, Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo Board, Young Democratic Clubs of Missouri, Sikeston Lions Club
  • Chairman, American Legion Boys State and Girls State, American Legion Baseball, Local Ducks Unlimited, City of Sikeston’s Board of Municipal Utilities

  • State Trustee & National Committee Member, Ducks Unlimited

Mr. Taylor has received numerous honors for his service, including:

In 2022, Mr. Taylor was inducted into the Missouri Veterans Hall of Fame; honored as a Missouri Lawyers Icon; and recognized as a Top 25 National Workers’ Compensation Attorney by the National Trial Lawyers. Mr. Taylor presently serves as the Chairman of Sikeston Veteran’s Park.

He lives in Sikeston with his wife, Pat. They have two children and six grandchildren.
